Giant PA: Launches 100% PA Produced Milk

Giant PA announced this week!  Look for the PA-Preferred stamp on the label (lower right)

CARLISLE – A state Department of Agriculture program marked a milestone Monday as Carlisle-based Giant Food Stores became the first national retailer to qualify its store brand milk as PA Preferred — the official branding program of farm products made or grown in Pennsylvania.
The program’s logo — a gold check mark inside a blue keystone on the product packaging or on displays at local retailers — can be found on products year-round at farmers’ markets, restaurants, food processors, grocery chains, craft breweries and wineries.

The designation means 100 percent of Giant’s store-brand milk is produced and processed in the state. The milk, available in whole, 2 percent, 1 percent and skim in gallons, half-gallons and quarts, will be sold at 156 retail locations in Pennsylvania and 44 locations in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
